Los Angeles – Joseph Seiders, drummer of the Canadian indie band The new pornographers, has been arrested and accused of having materials of child sexual abuse, authorities said.
Seiders, 44, is accused of recording young children with their phone in a Chick-Fil-A restaurant bath in Palm Desert, California, according to the department of the local sheriff. The city of about 50,000 is in the Coachella Valley.
Police responded to a report on April 7, suspicious activities in the fast food restaurant. An 11 -year -old told them that a man recorded him while using the bathroom there.
Two days later, the officers received another report in Chick-Fil-A and arrested Seiders. They looked for their home and found evidence that connected it with the two incidents. His positions include possession of child sexual abuse, disturbing a child and invasion of privacy, said the department of the Sheriff.
The Public Defensor’s Office of Riversid’s County declined to comment on the name of Seiders.
Authorities believe there may be more victims and are still investigating.
The new pornographers said they have immediately cut the ties with Seiders, who joined the band in 2014, in an Instagram post.
“All in the band are absolutely shocked, horrified and devastated by the news of the charges against Joe Seiders,” said the post.
