The WHO embark on a last tour in North America this summer

London – British rock band The Who They must say their last goodbye to North America this summer.

Singer Roger Daltrey And guitarist Pete Townshend confirmed Thursday that they will interpret successes from the six decades race during “The song is over North America Farewell Tour”, named for the success of 1971 of the band.

The band, which in the 1970s had become one of the largest tour bands in the world, easily filling the largest American stadiums, will play their first concert in Florida on August 16, with more appointments in cities such as New York, Toronto, Los Angeles and Vancouver, before a final date in Las Vegas on September 28.

“The dream of each musician in the early 60s was to make it great in the lists of the United States,” Daltrey said. “For WHO, that dream came true in 1967 and our lives changed forever.”

The band went from club shows to lead the Woodstock festival in the United States and become one of the world’s main draw. The band was included in the Rock Hall of Fame N ‘Roll in 1990.

Daltrey, 81, and Townshend, two years Junior, have been one of the most prolific double acts of rock, surviving the death of drummer Keith Moon in 1978 and bassist John Entwistle in 2002.

“Today, Roger and I still have the banner for the late Keith Moon and John Entwistle, and, of course, all our fans of a lot of time,” Townshend said. “I must say that although the road has not always been pleasant for me, it is generally easy: the best work I could have had. I still come back.”

Although Daltrey did not write songs, he was able to channel the many and complicated Towsend moods: challenge and anger, vulnerability and despair.

Together, some of the most defining sounds of rock forged: the stutter and mocked delivery of “My generation”, the anguished cry of “All are wasted!” of “Baba O’reilly” and the cry of all time of “will not fool”.

Pre -ses will be extended from May 13 before the general sale as of May 16.

“Well, all good things must come to an end. It’s a moving time,” Townshend said. “For me, playing the American public and those in Canada have always been incredible.”
