New York – It wasn’t The night that punk broke, But it was close. Almost 50 years ago, the Sex guns -Al composed of vocalist Johnny Rotten, guitarist Steve Jones, drummer Paul Cook and bass player Glen Matlock, acted in the 100 Punk Special Club in London, a 140 capacity club for 140, along with Subway Sect, Siouxsie and The Banshees and The Clash.
The event marked a change for subcultural movement; The bands here would soon bring their underground culture to reach conventional heights.
Now, the 2025 iteration of the guns – Jones, Cooke and Matlock joined by the leader Frank Carter (from Gallows, Pure Love and Frank Carter and the Snakes of Case) – they sit in the same place to discuss their next tour of North America. “This is where it all started, really, All the punk “ Cook says.
This fall, the legendary punk band will embark on its first tour of North America since 2003, when they joined them John Lydon (previously Rotten). The career of 2025 with Carter begins on September 16 at the Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas, Texas, the site of a particularly hostile show for the band when he traveled the United States for the first time in 1978.
Jones remembers having “hooves and bottles of pigs and what did not hung us for jeans.”
It is one of the few dates presented in three albums “Live in the USA”, which documes the ’78 of the band: Atlanta, Dallas and San Francisco. The latter will be released on April 25 and capture the show where the band originally called it.
“We were thinking of breaking in San Francisco again,” Jones jokes.
The 2025 tour is scheduled to conclude on October 16 in The Hollywood paladium In Los Angeles. The band will arrive in Washington; Philadelphia; Brooklyn, New York; Montreal; Toronto; Cleveland; Detroit; Minneapolis; Denver; Seattle and San Francisco. Additional tour dates will be announced later.
The presale opens on April 2 and 3. Tickets go on sale on April 4 at 10 am local time.
They will interpret in the only album of the band, “Never Mind the Bollocks of 1977, here is the album Sex Pistols” live in whole and other material.
So why tour the United States and Canada now?
“Why not?” Jones says.
“I think everyone needs this band at this time. I think the world needs this band right now,” says Carter. “And I think the United States is definitely shouting for a band like The Sex Pistols.”
“At the end of the day, we are living in a very, very difficult time. So not only people want to come and entertain themselves, but want to enjoy,” he continued. “Punk is an energetic music. It is one in which you can go and let off steam and release your hair, luckily in a safe way. Cross fingers, without bottles or pigs of pigs.”
Carter faced the sex guns last year for some dates of the United Kingdom. The band says they did not communicate with Lydon to see if he wanted to participate in this meeting tour.
“The last thing he wants to do is have something to do with us right now,” says Jones, referring A previous demand Between the singer and the band about the use of music in Your television series “Pistol”. The judge ruled against Lydon’s opposition.
“We wish him the best,” Jones said.
“Good luck to him,” adds Matlock. “I wish I think, perhaps, ‘good luck’ for us. Probably not. But over the years, John (he had) all our phone numbers, and I can’t see many lost calls from him.”
As for tour 2025: fans should not wait for the violence of their 1978 career, but they should anticipate a stricter performance.
“We are a bit older, but we play just as good, if not better,” says Matlock. “And I think that is something that has a lot of poise that we are going to bring to the public there.”
Does this mean there could be a new pistols sex music in the future? “It’s the first days,” says Jones. “Let’s see what happens.”
