The organizers of the expedition say that 2 climbers have died on Mount Everest

Katmandú, Nepal – An Indian and Filipino climber died while climbing Mount Everest while hundreds of climbers try to climb the highest peak in the world, organizers of the expedition said Friday.

The Indian climber, identified as Subrata Ghosh, died on Thursday just below the peak summit of 8,849 meters (29,032 feet) while returning from the top.

The other climber, identified as Philipp Santiago, 45, of the Philippines, died on Wednesday while heading to the summit. He had reached camp 4, which is the highest camp in the mountain, and was preparing for the final attempt to reach the summit.

Bodha Bhandari Bodha of the expedition and Nepal Snowy Horizon -based expedition, which equipped and organized the expedition, said the bodies were still on the mountain and that it had not yet been decided if they would be demolished.

Recovering bodies is expensive and difficult, since many people are needed to drag them on the icy slopes of the mountain.

The spring climbing season began in March and ends at the end of May.

May is the best month to upload the peak and climbers obtain only a few opportunities when climatic conditions improve, allowing them to only try to climb the peak.

Everest was first uploaded in 1953 by the NeoZlante Edmund Hillary and Nepali Sherpa Tenzing Norgay. More than 300 people have died at Everest since then.
