Every park, me. – Ahmed Hassanein remembers the days of learning to play football in the small kitchen of his half -brother in California.
The former defensive wing of the state of Boise State of 6 feet 2 and 267 pounds, which was the first Egyptian written in the NFL Last month for Detroit, he created a new memory on Friday when taking photos in the lions rookie mini -family.
“I am very grateful, so honored to be here,” said Hassanein. “It’s something like it doesn’t feel real. It’s as if I didn’t want to leave the field. I love it. Training, my teammates, just competitiveness, has been great. And I’m looking forward to it tomorrow and take it day by day.”
Hassanein, who was selected in the sixth round with the 196 team, said that one of the most important moments he had since he arrived at the mini -family was to meet coach Dan Campbell. When he was recruited, an exuberant Hassanein proclaimed: “I would die for that guy. I was going through a wall for him as if ran through a wall for coach D (Boise State Coach Spencer Danielson).”
When he went out to the practice field, the two finally found themselves and set their hands.
“It feels unreal,” he said. “He is an incredible guy. I really want to learn from him out of the field and in the field.”
Hassanein is expected to help fill the edge corridor hole that the lions have in front of Aidan Hutchinson.
“I will say that Ahmed is relentless,” said the general manager of the Lions, Ray Agnew. “Play the game in the way we like to play. He plays hard. He is a second effort corridor. He can win with his hands as a runner … and I think that when the coach (defensive line) (Kacy) Rodgers gets it to train him, the child will be a good player for us. So we are excited about him.”
To fulfill the hopes of the lions, Hassanein knows that he has a lot of work ahead and is ready for the challenge.
“I’m looking for difficulties,” he said. “I want to improve in things. I want to do it because I don’t want to take the easy way. I want to win everything. I don’t want you to give me anything.”
Hassanein, who moved to California in 2018 from Cairo, Egypt, said he has been surprised by the great attention he has been receiving from the Egyptians.
“Man, he is the first Egyptian who are talking about culture and teams,” he said. “People look at me. I receive text messages all the time people just want to be like me, inspired to be like me. I am so grateful and so honored that Jesus has pushed me in this position. I mean, I will give everything I have.”
