London – Some of the fastest canines on four very short legs have run for glory in the annual Scotland Derby.
Musselburgh Corgi Derby’s racecourse was first celebrated in 2022 for Mark Queen Elizabeth II 70 years on the throne. The late monarch was a Devoto Corgi Fan Those who possessed almost 30 of the race over the decades, along with some Dorgis, a Corgi-Dachshund cross.
Juno, four years old beat a field of 16 people with handsome dogs dressed in bright sweaters during the 230 -feet race (70 meters) on Saturday at the Racecourse on the outskirts of Edinburgh. She came from behind in the last section to overcome last year’s winner, Rodney.
The winner and their owners, Alisdair Tew and Fran Brandon, were presented with a trophy and sweets for tennis coach Judy Murray, mother of the Scottish star Andy Murray.
Tew told the BBC that “we train it for this last year, but this year we turn to let it chase things, particularly the seagulls” on the Portobello beach in Edimburg.
“Juno is always ready for treats, that’s why he won,” he said.
