London – The Britain competition control agency said Wednesday that it has withdrawn its review from the Microsoft Association with Operai, saying that it is satisfied that the agreement does not need a closer investigation under the country’s merger rules.
The competition and market authority said that, based on “available evidence”, the association between the United States technological giant and the Chatgpt manufacturer does not qualify for a merger investigation.
“In particular, the CMA does not consider that Microsoft has been a change of control from the material influence to the de facto control over OpenAi,” said the guard dog in a statement.
Microsoft was a great initial sponsor of Openai, arranging billions of dollars in the Startup based in San Francisco in its early days. But since then Operai has attracted others Great investors including the SoftBank and the chips manufacturer of Japan Nvidia after its success with Chatgpt.
The CMA has intensified the scrutiny of AI agreements in the middle of a wave of investment of large technological companies in new companies that work in generative artificial intelligence.
