London – An oil tanker and a load ship have collided on the east coast of England and a rescue operation is running, the Coast Guard of Britain said Monday.

Several lifeboats and a rescue helicopter from the Coast Guard were sent to the scene in the North Sea, along with a Coast Guard plane and nearby ships with fire fighting capacity.

The BBC reported that the oil tanker is in flames.

The maritime and coastal nursery agency said the alarm was raised at 9:48 am (0948 GMT). The collision site is off the coast of Hull, about 155 miles (250 kilometers) north of London.
