East Hartford, Connecticut – Pratt reaction engines manufacturer AND Whitney announced Friday that he reached an tentative agreement with the union that represents some 3,000 Machinists in Connecticut who have been on strike since May 4 demanding better job security and better salaries, retirement benefits and medical care coverage.
The members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers are scheduled to vote on May 27 on the supply of the reviewed contract. The company said the tentative agreement came after the two parties resumed the conversations on Thursday, addresses “key interest points among union members.” He did not provide details.
In a Facebook post, the union said it was bringing a tentative “improved” agreement to unionized workers to vote.
“It is in the hands of our membership to decide whether Pratt’s offer and Whitney meet their needs so that they can return to work by building the most capable engines in the world!” He said the publication.
Union members began pickets in Pratt manufacturing locations in East Hartford and Middletown after approximately 77% of almost 2,100 union members voted to approve their first strike since 2001.
“Pratt and Whitney is a power in military and commercial aerospace products because our membership does so,” said David Sullivan, vice president of the eastern territory of the union, in a statement at that time. “This offer does not address membership concerns, and membership made its decision: we will continue to fight for a fair contract.”
The company, a subsidiary of RTX Corp., based in Arlington, Virginia, had called its proposal for a competitive previous salary and retirement, and said that its workforce is among the most compensated in the region and industry.
The strike has arrived when RTX faces a possible coup of $ 850 million in the profits this year due to the rates imposed by President Donald Trump, if tariff rates remain the same throughout the year. During his first quarter -quarter profit call, the company said its Pratt AND Whitney and Collins aerospace subsidiaries would make each of the shoulders a little more than $ 400 million of the possible tariffs.

The American Democratic Senator Richard Blucenthal, who joined the workers in the picket line, described the tentative agreement “a solid step forward for the highly qualified machinists of Pratt, and I wait for a fair agreement soon.”
