Paolini becomes the first Italian female player to make Miami Open tennis semifinals

Miami Gardans, Florida – Jasmine Paolini goes to Miami Open semifinals for the first time.

The sixth sown Paolini defeated Magda Linette of Poland 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 on Tuesday, becoming the first woman to reach the last four of the tournament this year.

Paolini is the first Italian woman to make the semifinals in Miami. There were six cases of Italian women who made the quarterfinals there, more recently Martina Trevisan in 2023.

Paolini will face Aryna Sabalenka or China Qinwen Zheng in the semifinals. The quarterfinal of Sabalenka-Zheng was scheduled for later on Tuesday night, after the rain postponed many of the games of the day for several hours.

The other side of the female support is scheduled for quarterfinal matches on Wednesday, with Jessica Pegula de la fourth sown of the United States facing Emma Radacanu of Great Britain, and IgA Swiatek, secondly, in front of Alexandra Eala de Philipinas.
