Monaco – Lando Norris has its first position of the Pole of Formula 1 in more than two months at the Monaco Grand Prix. Now he needs his first victory since then to increase his title opportunities.
In general, there is no better place to be in the pole position than Monaco, where the overtaking is almost impossible, but a new change of rules could shake everything.
The pilots will have to change the tires at least twice in Sunday’s race, adding an uncertain element of strategy to what was a unique procession last year.
Charles Leclerc de Ferrari, the winner of last year, starts secondly with Norris and is predicting a chaotic career.
“I think tomorrow will be a little chaos, but we will see how it develops,” he said after qualifying.
“I think there will be many strategy games, and we will see who comes out at the top. But I think we could be under the pressure of the cars that we probably do not expect, from behind, what could make everything interesting. We will see.”
Potentially, the teams could try to play by making two early stops and expect to jump to the rivals later, or else risk in a security car or a red flag, which makes it possible to change the tires without losing places.
