Deir Al-Balah, Strip Gaza- The Ministers of Foreigners of Muslim Nations rejected on Saturday the calls of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, to empty Gaza’s strip of its Palestinian population and supported a plan for an administrative committee of Palestinians to govern the territory to allow reconstruction to continue.
The foreign ministers gathered in the Saudi city of Jeddah for a special session of the Islamic cooperation organization to address the situation in Gaza, at a time when the 7 -week child El Alto el Fuego between Israel and Hamas has been questioned.
In a statement published on Saturday, the meeting raised its support behind a plan to rebuild Gaza presented by Egypt and backed by Arab states, including Saudi and Jordan Arabia, aimed at counteracting Trump’s call. The OIC groups 57 nations with populations in large part Muslim.
Not to mention Trump specifically, the ministers said they rejected “the plans aimed at displacing the Palestinian people individually or collectively … as ethnic cleaning, a serious violation of international law and a crime against humanity.” They also condemned “hunger policies” who said they aim to push the Palestinians to leave.
The IIC also restored Syria as a member of the group.
Syria was eliminated from IIC in 2012 on the brutal brutal representation of Bashar Assad against opposition protests. After about 14 years of civil war, Assad was expelled in December by insurgents led by Islamists who have since created a transition government.
El Alto El Fuego that began in mid -January brought a pause in the Israel bombing campaign and terrestrial offensives in Gaza aimed at destroying Hamas after his attack on October 7, 2023 to the south of Israel. The first phase of Alto El Fuego saw the release of 25 Israeli hostages held by militants in Gaza and the bodies of eight others in exchange for the release of almost 2,000 Palestinians imprisoned by Israel.
But a second expected phase of the agreement, aimed at questioning the release of remaining hostages and a lasting truce and a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. Israel has resisted negotiations on the terms of the second phase. Instead, he has asked Hamas to release half of his remaining hostages in exchange for an extension of the high fire and a promise to negotiate a lasting truce. Since Sunday, Israel has banned all foods, fuel, medicine and other supplies Upon entering Gaza for about 2 million people, demanding that Hamas accept the reviewed agreement.
At the same time, Trump has asked that the population of Gaza be resettled elsewhere so that the United States can take care of the territory and develop it for others. The Palestinians have rejected calls to leave.
The Ministers of the OIC meeting supported a proposal backed by Egyptian that an administrative committee replaces Hamas in the Gaza government. The committee would work “under the umbrella” of the Palestinian authority, based in the West in the West. Israel has rejected the AP that has some role in the Gaza Strip, but has not presented an alternative for the postwar government in the territory.
Under the high fire, the Israeli forces have retired to an area along the edges of Gaza. On early Saturday, an Israeli strike killed two Palestinians in the southernmost city of Rafah de Gaza, said the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The Israeli army said he hit several men who seemed to have flown a drone that entered Israel from Gaza.
Israel’s military offensive has killed more than 48,000 Palestinians in Gaza, mostly women and children, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health, which does not say how many dead were militants.
The campaign was caused by Hamas attack in October 2023, in which the militants killed about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, within Israel and took a total of 251 people as hostages. Most have been published in high fire agreements or other agreements. It is believed that Hamas still has 24 live hostages and the bodies of another 34.
