Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba have been teammates for 12 seasons. If that will continue after this year, it will obviously mean that they both stay with Inter Miami.
Alba has signed a contract extension with Inter Miami, one that has committed him to be with Major League Soccer Club until the end of the 2027 season. He played with Messi for nine seasons with Barcelona and are in his third season along with Inter Miami, both arriving during the 2023 team campaign.
Messi has an option for the next season, when Inter Miami plans to move to its new stadium so long -awaited near Miami International Airport, and the parties have been working on an agreement for some time, but no official commitment has yet been announced.
“I am happy to renew my contract because I have the desire to continue competing, and for how I feel in the club, with the affection I receive from fans in each game. I have been very comfortable in the last two years in the club, and I feel very loved by all fans,” said Alba. “We have the desire to continue competing, continue winning and, hopefully, win as many titles as possible.”
Alba, a left back, had five goals and 15 assists while winning a selection of stars during the MLS season a year ago, including the playoffs. He helped Inter Miami to win the shield of the followers and to break the record of points of a MLS season for a team.
Alba, 36, arrived at Inter Miami shortly after Messi announced that he headed there in June 2023. The arrival of Messi led Sergio Busquets, Luis Suárez and Alba, all teammates in Barcelona, joined the MLS.
Alba helped Barcelona win six titles of the League, five trophies of the Copa del Rey and the Champions League in 2015.
