Harvard students told him to take refuge instead after shooting at the near Metro stop

Cambridge, Mass. – The students and the staff of Harvard University were told to take refuge in their place and the passengers in part of the Boston Metro system were redirected to the ferry buses after reports on Sunday of shooting at a metro station near the school.

An alert sent to the Harvard community said the Massachusetts Bay Traffic Authority, the Cambridge Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police and the Harvard University Police were looking in the area near the Harvard Square station for a suspect. No injuries were reported immediately.

“Refugio instead. Enter the nearest building and stay there until everything is clear,” said the message.

After delaying the trains in the area, the MBTA announced that it had decided to replace the service there with transport buses due to the “police activity.” The passengers were warned that they could experience delays while the transfers were being sent.
