China warns countries that do not make commercial agreements unfavorable to Beijing

Beijing – China warned other countries on Monday that do not make commercial agreements with the United States to the detriment of China.

Governments, including those of Taiwan, Japan and South Korea, have begun negotiations with Washington after President Donald Trump Broad tariffs announced Against almost all United States business partners on April 2. Import taxes were quickly stopped against most countries after the markets panicked, but increased their rates already pronounced against China.

“China firmly opposes any party that reaches an agreement at the expense of China’s interests,” said the Ministry of Commerce of China in a statement. “If this happens, China will never accept it and take resolutely contramedidated reciprocally. China is determined and is able to safeguard its own rights and interests.”

The United States Secretary of the United States, Scott Besent, said earlier this month that the countries that currently negotiate trade agreements with the United States should “approach China as a group” together with Washington.

American tariffs against other countries are economic harassment, the ministry said in the statement attributed to an unnamed spokesman.

“The appeasement cannot bring peace, and the commitment cannot gain respect,” he added. “For temporary selfish interests, sacrificing the interests of others in exchange for the so -called exemptions is like looking for the skin of a tiger. Ultimately, it will only fail in both purposes and damage others without benefiting.”

China said it is open to conversations with Washington, but no meetings have been announced.

Trump made China the objective of his most pronounced tariffs, imposing several rounds of rates for a total of 145% duties in Chinese imports. Beijing has retaliates with 125% tariffs on US imports.

Tariffs have scared exporters and stagnant shipmentswhile threatening to drag the global economy.
