Rome – Bologna finished a 51-year wait for an important trophy when AC Milan 1-0 beat The Italian Cup On Wednesday.
Danoye returned from an injury to score the only goal and help Bologna to his first Italian Cup since 1974. The club, owned by the Canadian Joey Saputo, has only won two second division titles in the middle.
It was also the first victory of coach Vincenzo Italiano in a final, after having lost the parties of the Conference of the Conference of a consecutive European Conference while he was in charge of Fiorentina and ending the second place in the Italian Cup 2023.
“There were three strong disappointments,” Italian told BroadCaster Mediaset. “I didn’t think I could go back immediately and recover mine. But we were successful and I’m happy.
“I add an important trophy to my mantle and I really dedicate it to the boys, which were extraordinary.”
Italian had been thrown into the air by his players in celebration immediately after the final whistle. Many of them cried with joy, like some of the thousands of Bologna fans in the stands.
And the 47 -year -old coach was anxious to return to the festivities.
“Now let me go and celebrate, because this is something really incredible,” said Italian with a smile at the end of his television interview.
It is the first season of Italian in Bologna after replacing Thiago Motta, who went to Juventus after directing the team to his first qualification of the Champions League. Motta was fired by Juventus earlier this season.
The result assured Bologna a place in the Europa League next season and left Milan with the very real probability of losing European competition.

Both teams came to Rome seeking to finish a drought from the Italian Cup, since Milan lifted the trophy for the last time 22 years ago, losing two finals in the intermediate years.
The game played a high tempo from the beginning and both goalkeepers were called to make impressive salvages in the first 10 minutes.
The tension threatened to boil towards the end of the first half and the captain of Bologna Lewis Ferguson was bloody with what looked like a broken nose after a sliding backle on Rafael Leão, who caught him in his face with his leg while he was overturned.
