Warsaw, Poland – The five -skiers bodies have been found in a glacier about the Swiss city of Zermatt, authorities said Sunday, after two hikers informed having seen abandoned skis near Rimpfischhorn, a 4,000 -meter peak in the Alpes de Valais.
The Cantonal Police of Valais said Sunday that the victims were located in the Adler glacier after air and land searches.
The formal identification of the victims is still underway, and their nationalities have not yet been released.
The authorities have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the accident. Climate conditions and avalanche activity in the region are being examined as part of the probe.
