2 ships overturned in southwest China after a sudden storm, leaving 20 missing

Beijing – Two ships that transport approximately 70 people overturned in the WU river in the province of China in southwest Guizhou on Sunday afternoon, leaving about 20 missing people.

Until Sunday night, rescuers had taken 50 people out of the water, according to the official Xinhua news agency. Rescuers were still looking for others on Sunday night in the Guizhou Qianxi area.

The ships turned away after a sudden rain and hail storm and strong winds hit the WU, a tributary of Yangtze, one of the two longest rivers in China.

In a video, shared by state media could be seen by a man making RCP in another person in the boat. The bottom of one of the overturned boats could be seen while the container moved up.

An eyewitness told Beijing News backed by the state that the waters were deep, but some people had managed to swim in a safe place. However, the storm had suddenly appeared and a thick fog obscured the surface of the river.
