Two people were killed after two vehicles were swept from the road due to floods caused by heavy rains in Moore, Oklahoma, police said.
After a search, the bodies of two people, an adult woman and a 12 -year -old girl, were found outside one of the vehicles that were swept, told ABC News, spokesman for the Moore Police, Clint Byley.
The first to respond said they were looking for two people who had been in a Jeep, after three other people were declared safe. One of those who were rescued had also been in the Jeep, police said. Two others that were rescued were in a truck.
The flood occurs when more than 30 million Americans are on alert for severe weather this Easter weekend, since several states in the heart have already been beaten with tornadoes, hail and harmful winds.
The two vehicles left the road near Southeast 12th Street and S Eastern Avenue, said Moore Police Department to the ABC News Koco affiliate. Both vehicles were submerged in the water after being taken from a bridge, police said.
“This was a historic weather event that hit the roads and caused dozens of high water incidents throughout the city, “police said on social networks.” We would like to extend gratitude to our neighboring agencies that helped in rescue efforts. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family & Friends of the victims. “
The police had said previously that they were working to help “more than a dozen” motorists whose vehicles were caught in high waters.
“Multiple roads and neighbors have water on the curbs,” said the department In social networks afternoon on Saturday. “Stay at home if possible.”
