Berlin – An assailant stabbed people at the Central Railroad station in the German city of Hamburg on Friday, wounding 12 people, six of them critically, authorities said.
The person attacked people with a knife on the platform between the tracks 13 and 14 at the station, according to the police. They said on the social network X that a suspect was arrested, but did not give details.
The Hamburg Fire Service said that six people suffered injuries that threaten life, while three others were seriously injured and three had light injuries, the German news agency DPA reported.
The station in the center of Hamburg, the second largest city in Germany, is an important center for local, regional and long distance trains. The police cordoned off part of the complex.
